Dr. Samantha Shawn-Marsh, DNP, PMHNP-BC

Dr. Samantha Shawn-Marsh is a current owner of M+M Wellness Center, Inc and provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management to children, adolescents, and young and middle-aged adults with posttraumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, mood related disorders, and/or attention deficit hyperactivity disorders. Dr. Shawn-Marsh works closely with parents, teachers, pediatricians, school counselors, therapists, and psychologists in order to collaborate closely and maintain continuity of care for patients and their families.

Dr. Shawn-Marsh utilizes a biopsychosocial model, focusing on emotions, thoughts, and behaviors as well as socio-economic and environmental factors, all significant in human functioning and treatment planning. A licensed therapy dog named “Mason” helps to provide emotional support and companionship to those in need.

Education and Experience

Dr. Samantha Shawn-Marsh is a Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. In 2006 she attended the University of Delaware where she pitched Division 1 for the Blue Hens while earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She soon thereafter graduated from the University of Virginia in 2013 with a Master’s in Nursing, specializing in Psychiatry, and a Doctorate from Quinnipiac University. Samantha also spent time abroad in Sydney and Cairn’s, Australia serving the underprivileged and aboriginal populations with severe mental health illness.

Samantha has worked in several mental health settings in Virginia including; The Virginia Treatment Center for Children, St. Joseph’s Villa-CSU, New Direction Psychiatric Services, and Westhampton Family Psychologists. She also has experience as an adjunct faculty teaching clinical rotations to undergraduate VCU Nursing Students. She is an educational speaker for Assurex Health, Otuska, and AbbVie Pharmaceuticals. She is a member of Therapy Dog Inc. as well as Caring Canines.

Anthony Marsh, MA, Owner

Anthony Marsh is a current owner and office manager of M+M Wellness Center, Inc. He also works as a medical assistant and is educated and trained for the purpose of assisting with medical treatments and patient care treatment planning. Mr. Anthony Marsh attended the University of Richmond School of Professional and Continuing Studies in 2012. He has previously worked as a lead massage therapist at Hand and Stone Spa in Virginia for 4 years.

Mason

Mason is a licensed therapy dog who has worked with children and adults in a variety of settings, but has spent most of his time over the past 8 years with patients who have mental health conditions. He has trained extensively through Canine Good Citizen, Therapy Dog Incorporated, and Caring Canines. Due to COVID-19 he is working as a “Freelance Virtual Therapy Dog“!
